Arc Manor was created by Shahid Mahmud in 2006 to utilize the exciting new emerging technologies being developed in the publishing marketplace. Being a lover of science fiction and fantasy since childhood, the publisher, Shahid, started the Phoenix Pick imprint primarily to reprint out-of-print books from established authors in science fiction and fantasy.
 
With the small press gaining momentum, Shahid launched a speculative fiction magazine, Galaxy’s Edge, in 2013 with the help of five-time Hugo Award winner, Mike Resnick, who edited the magazine until his death in 2020. The magazine was dedicated to giving exposure to new science fiction and fantasy authors from around the world, and after Mike’s passing, the baton was passed on to its new editor, Lezli Robyn. In 2023, the publisher and editor converted the magazine into an anthology series better suited to reach a wider audience in bookstores. Arc Manor, in partnership with Dragon Con, also established The Mike Resnick Memorial Award in honor of the original editor’s tireless work in promoting new authors.
 
March 2020 saw the launch of two new imprints, CAEZIK SF & Fantasy and CAEZIK Romance. The first book to be published under CAEZIK SF & Fantasy was a rediscovered novel by Robert A. Heinlein, The Pursuit of the Pankera, which went on to become a Locus magazine national bestseller. The first book published under CAEZIK Romance, Thankfully in Love, featured Harlequin mainstays and USA TODAY bestsellers, Anna J. Stewart, Kayla Perrin, Melinda Curtis, and Cari Lynn Webb.
 
Arc Manor has, through its various imprints and magazines, published some of the most iconic authors in the science fiction and fantasy industry, including George R.R. Martin, Mercedes Lackey, Nancy Kress, David Gerrold, Katharine Kerr, Larry Niven and Harry Turtledove, among many others. They have also introduced newer authors to their readers, such as Alex Shvartsman and Oghenechovwe Donald Ekpeki, and look forward to adding more authors to their publishing brag shelf.
